CHPHE Welcomes Dr. David G. Zelaya: Advancing Health Equity Through Research, Advocacy, and Clinical Practice
The Center for Health Promotion and Health Equity (CHPHE) is proud to welcome Dr. David G. Zelaya, a nationally recognized scholar in health equity and behavioral health, as a new faculty member. Dr. Zelaya brings a wealth of experience in research, clinical practice, and advocacy focused on underserved communities.
Doctoral student Emily Elenio is tackling one of the biggest challenges in digital public health research today: securing the integrity of online survey data. In her innovative work on the "What’s On Your Plate" study, she sets new standards for recruiting under-resourced populations while defending against bots and fraudulent responses.
Jaclyn White Hughto Receives Dean’s Award for Excellence in Mentoring in Public Health
The Center for Health Promotion and Health Equity is pleased to announce that Jaclyn White Hughto, Associate Professor of Behavioral and Social Sciences and Epidemiology, has received the prestigious Dean’s Award for Excellence in Mentoring in Public Health. This award recognizes her outstanding commitment to mentoring students and fostering excellence in public health education.

Highlighting Faculty Research: New Publication Explores Breastfeeding and Smoking Among Low-Income Pregnant Women
The Center for Health Promotion and Health Equity is proud to highlight the latest publication by our faculty members Patricia Markham Risica, Tayla Von Ash, and Shira Dunsiger, alongside their collaborators. Trajectories of Breastfeeding-Related Thoughts and Attitudes Among Low-Income Smoke-Exposed Pregnant Women: A Latent Class Growth Analysis, was recently published in the Journal of Human Lactation (Nov. 2024 issue).
